As demand for green skills accelerates, education and workforce systems are not keeping pace, leaving critical gaps in who has access to climate-relevant learning and opportunities. These gaps are not only about skills, but about entire learning ecosystems that are misaligned with the needs of a just and inclusive transition. Without a clear understanding of where green learning opportunities exist—and where they don’t—efforts to expand access risk reinforcing existing inequities.

Helping organizations design inclusive green and blue learning-to-earning pathways to ensure young people can access and shape opportunities in the green and blue economy.
By 2050, youth populations in at least 47 countries are expected to grow by 62%—adding over 150 million young people globally. At the same time, governments and the private sector are generating millions of green and blue jobs. Yet with over 71 million young people currently unemployed, and marginalized youth—especially girls and those displaced by conflict or climate—facing the steepest barriers, the green transition risks leaving behind the very generation that needs it most.

Seeding Climate Action for Systems Change through Girls' Education
Leveraging best practices in girls' education to catalyze climate action in low- and middle-income countries.
Through the SEED Alliance—a cooperative of seven organizations with deep expertise in education, climate change, and gender—we are piloting a transformative package of climate education interventions for out-of-school adolescent girls in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Alongside a gender-transformative curriculum toolkit, the initiative will develop and test innovative methodologies to quantify the climate impact of quality girls' education, generating the evidence and certified carbon credits needed to attract climate finance to the education sector at scale.
